Eu Oy Chun
Biography
Born in Hong Kong but now a Singapore citizen, Oy Chun completed her education at The University of Singapore (now known at the National University of Singapore) with a BSc in Biology. After dabbing in photography and Chinese brush painting for many years, she felt a pressing need to explore her interest in art using other mediums. In 2008, she decided to go back to basics and went under the tutelage of a renowned contemporary artist Ren Jianhui to hone her skills in sketching, charcoal drawing and painting in oil. It was during this period of training that she discovered her artistic expression in oil which is her chosen medium.
Her artworks have been published in two Singapore Coffee Table Books – “Footprints on An Island, Rediscovering Pulau Ubin” in 2016 and “Flying Sleeves” in 2018 by Dr Chua Ee Kiam. Her artworks have also been featured in other local and overseas publications. She participated in the Chianciano Art Museum Biennale 2018 where she received a Special Mention for Merit, London Art Biennale and XIIth Florence Biennale in 2019. Her artworks have also gained international recognition through awards from digital art competitions.
